A Location
That Suits Every Need
With a population of about 8,000, Fort Mill enjoys a small town setting.
It’s built on a rock-solid infrastructure, supported strongly by
Springs Industries (now known as Springs Global), a locally owned business
dating to 1887. Springs Industries – through the Springs and Close
families – has created public parks (including the 2,300-acre
Anne Springs Close Greenway ), built public
golf courses such as Springfield and sponsored
innovative educational programs in local schools.
The Fort Mill-York 4 School District academically outperforms every other
district in the state. For these reasons, Fort Mill was a 2005 contender
for CNN Money magazine’s “Best Places to Live” distinction.
Just 25 minutes away, Fort Mill offers the advantages of Charlotte’s
restaurants, entertainment venues and cultural attractions. Charlotte
is a major banking center in the United States and is home base for Duke
Energy, Lowe’s Home Improvement, SPX Corporation, Compass Group
and more than 1.5 million residents.
Via the new Springfield Parkway, Springfield is just three miles from
I-77, six miles from I-485 and 17 miles southeast of Charlotte-Douglas
International Airport. Click

for Everyone
Between the Springfield Golf Club, Orchard
Park's pools and tennis courts, and miles of trails and sidewalks,
you don’t have to go anywhere else for fun or exercise. But, there
are other great options:
- Just a short stroll from Orchard Park is the Spring's Farm Market,
offering fresh produce during the spring and summer months. Pick your
own strawberries and peaches, or enjoy a family outing for some of
their delicious ice cream.
- Springfield residents enjoy membership to the Anne
Springs Close Greenway, which includes 2,300 acres of unspoiled
forests, lakes and pastures as well as 32 miles of trails for hikers,
cyclists and equestrians. You can rent one of the facilities, which
are designed for either formal or informal events. Special events
are held throughout the year, including Earth Day in the spring and
BBQ & Bluegrass Festival in the fall.
- Just outside of Fort Mill, The Leroy Springs Recreational Complex
offers an indoor pool, exercise facilities, meeting spaces and day
care. Youth sports, including swim, football, basketball and soccer
teams, are offered. You can also enjoy sports lessons, fitness classes,
craft classes and many more opportunities to get involved. Click
here to find out more.
- Fort Mill offers five public parks around the town and has recently
updated many of the facilities. Walter Y. Elisha Park includes a baseball
field, as does Harris Street Park. Sidewalks and trails connect several
of the parks.
- Springfield is near two YMCA branches – Fort Mill and Gold
Hill. Both feature a variety of health and fitness programs; Fort Mill
also includes basketball courts and a pool.
