Arcadia Homes, Inc.

Arcadia Homes’ philosophy on home building is basic: "Give homeowners the home they want and build it using the most efficient techniques, the highest quality materials and the most experienced craftsmen available."

Because the company selects only a few homes to build each year, its staff dedicates more attention to detail than larger builders. Clients are afforded honesty, integrity and dependability throughout the building process.

Principals Robert J. Bowers and Michael Salamone combine talents to offer clients a complete home-building team. Robby has more than a decade in home-building experience, while Mike’s strengths lie in finance and administration. The two came together to form Arcadia Homes in 1994.

"Mike Salamone and Robby Bowers have built a great business by building very high-quality homes and by treating every customer as if he or she is the only one they have. They gave us a list of every home they had built with the buyers' names and addresses. For a builder to have the confidence to have you talk with every buyer they've had says a lot about the company."

Each franchise builder, like Paragon Homes, is dedicated to upholding Art's original vision and making those four cornerstones the foundation of their businesses.

Jim Rosewater was building in South Florida when Art Rutenberg – a personal friend for many years -- approached him with the idea of bringing Rutenberg’s designs to the Carolinas. Evans Coghill Homes, LLC.

Chris Folk began his home-building company after a Habitat for Humanity project inspired him to “create the foundation for families to grow on.” Working on that same Habitat for Humanity house was Alan Banks, who went on to build a successful real estate marketing company.

Years after completing their Habitat house and establishing their own businesses, Chris and Alan are building houses together again. The two formed Evans Coghill Homes, LLC, with the goal of changing people’s perceptions of the home-building process.

Chris’ building experience and product knowledge complemented Alan’s knowledge of the market and customer service, and they created a home-building process that focused on daily site management and constant communication with the buyer.

Their process worked, even in extreme situations. One buyer requested more than 30 changes; another lived 1,000 miles away and made only three visits to the construction site. In both cases, Chris and Alan could say that their process made the experience successful.

In 2005, Chris and Alan earned a Pacesetter award from Custom Home magazine and the National Association of Home Builders’ Custom Home Builders Council. The award named Evans Coghill Homes as the best builder in the production excellence category.

In addition to serving home buyers, Evans Coghill Homes helps the community. A portion of the profit from each home Evans Coghill Homes builds goes to Habitat for Humanity.

Stevens Construction Group, Inc.

With a diverse background in the construction industry, Ron Stevens prides himself on building homes that are structurally superior, yet have the attention to detail that custom home buyers desire.

Stevens earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and then worked for one of Charlotte’s largest commercial property developers. He has also worked as an estimator and project manager, overseeing the development of residential subdivisions. In 1991, Ron started Stevens Construction Group, where he concentrates on residential home building. Ron is a member of the Better Business Bureau and the Home Builders Association of Charlotte.

Stevens Construction Group is a low-volume builder, allowing him to focus more attention on customers. Each of Ron’s homes has what he calls “hands-on quality,” which means he personally inspects every aspect of the building process. He’s also dedicated to making the home-building process easy for buyers and assuring his customers get exactly what they want.

“I use the best materials and the industry-recommended building practices. A Stevens home will last a lifetime without problems, because it’s perfectly engineered to be structurally sound and energy-efficient,” Ron said.

"The thing that caught our eye about Ron Stevens was his attention to detail. He seems to be a 'belt and suspender' kind of guy, meaning he builds his products to last and puts the time and effort necessary for the quality product. He's passionate about what he does, and that's what we like in a builder."

T. Whelan Homes, Inc.

As a second generation home builder, Tim Whelan's education in construction started early. With both his father and his uncles involved in home building, Tim grew up immersed in the industry. Tim and his wife and partner, Ann, embrace the idea that they aren't just building a house, they're building the place where a family lives. With her background in art and design, Ann is available to assist clients with the interior selections for their home. Lowcountry and traditional architecture are the signature styles of T. Whelan Homes. Drawing from 21 years of experience and service on the Lake Norman Home Builders Association's Board of Directors, Tim prides himself on offering clients creativity in design and the flexibility to provide the perfect floor plan for each homeowner.
